Services

The UCLA Human Stem Cell and Genome Engineering Center provides investigators with access to advanced stem cell engineering and genome editing technologies to support biomedical research and therapeutic discovery. Our integrated platform enables the generation of patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), precise genome engineering, and comprehensive genomic quality control to ensure the reliability of engineered cell models.

These services support a wide range of applications including disease modeling, functional genomics, and drug discovery. In addition to core capabilities available within the center, investigators may also access specialized assays and extended technologies through collaborating institutes and partner core facilities.

Copy Number Variation Analysis

Copy number variation (CNV) analysis is performed using low-pass whole genome sequencing to assess genomic integrity in induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines and genetically engineered cell lines. This approach enables detection of large-scale chromosomal abnormalities and genomic copy number changes that may arise during reprogramming, genome editing, or long-term cell culture.

CNV analysis provides a rapid and cost-effective method for screening cell lines prior to banking, validating genome editing outcomes, and monitoring genomic stability during experimental workflows.
